Pokemon Concierge

Released on Netflix December 28, 2023

Episode: 4 Episodes (Around 14 - 20 minutes each)

Rated TV-PG

Haru, an uptight workaholic, has been living her life with her nose to the grindstone with little time for herself. A series of unfortunate events that includes her boyfriend breaking up with her leads her to applying for a new job at the Pokemon Resort. It is here she makes new friends, discovers her Pokemon partner, and learns to enjoy life and not take herself to seriously.

Themes:

Pokemon, breakups, concierges, discovering your strengths, new beginnings, resorts, vacation, work, relaxing, happiness, psyduck, headaches, teamwork, inner thoughts, helping pokemon/people with their problems, evolving, daydreaming, making friends, shyness, playtime, getting along, stereotypes, being yourself, and having fun together.

Language:

At the very beginning (within like the first 15 seconds) a character uses the word, “sucks.” That’s it.

Stuff to be aware of:

There isn’t too much to be aware of in this short series. There aren’t even any Pokemon battles, just lots of chillaxing. If you have watched anything Pokemon related, this will be even tamer than that.

Overall:

This series is super cute and has splashes of morales throughout. My only complaint is that there are only four episodes and there has been no announcements of future seasons/installments. The stop motion is superb and the writing is good. There is no battling or bad guys, just a character learning to relax a little and figuring out ways to help guests have a great time. Kids will enjoy it, but it is well enough done that parents (especially Pokemon fans) can enjoy watching it with their children.
