Stuff to be aware of:
Alcohol/Drugs - Characters enjoy drinking at a bar named Josie. In episode three, there is a brief scene where a man is surrounded by drugs and alcohol. He is given a small bag of something. There are several scenes where people drink. Bourbon is mentioned.
In episode four there is a scene that takes place in a dance club and most of the people present are drinking.
Religious - Matt is still catholic. Scripture is quoted briefly during a church assembly. Matt prays in one episode.
Sexual - There is some flirting and kisses exchanged between Matt and a woman. In episode four a female mentions sleeping over. She then unbuttons a male’s shirt. The scene changes and they are seen lying in bed together. The woman is a sleep and the man is awake.
In episode six a man jokes about there being no foreplay.
Violence - In the first two episodes three people get shot and killed with blood splattering on walls, windows, and people’s faces. A character bleeds to death after being shot. There is a ton of blood. A man gets thrown from a roof. A man gets thrown out in front of a sub train and is killed. During a fight scene in episode two Matt breaks a mans arm and you see his bones start to come out. He also breaks a man’s neck and there is plenty of blood.
In episode three a man gets shot in the face and his blood splatters all over the man with him. A man in a mask is shot in the head and killed. His mask is blood stained. This man getting shot is shown several times in recaps and as Matt investigates and discusses the crime.
In episode four a man is strapped to a table and a masked villain pumps blood out of his body. In episode five there is a bank robbery. Matt breaks and man’s leg. It is heard but not seen.
In episode six and man is seen with his eye removed. In a flashback a man is seen falling from a roof and hitting the ground. There are two dead girls seen with blood around their eyes. People are seen having and their blood being drained. There are two lengthy fight scenes one between a man with no weapons and a man with an axe and another one between Daredevil and an unarmed man. These fights are violent and bloody.
Seeing It With Your Family
This series is rated TV-MA for a reason. The show goes full MA with language and violence/gore.
What I Thought
So far, this feels like a natural continuation to the Netflix series. The first four episodes have been well written ad shot. This show does take place in the MCU. There is a quick glimpse of an advertisement for Rogers the Musical and skrulls are mentioned in a brief line of dialogue.
Episode three is pretty courtroom heavy, but still feels like the old school Netflix Daredevil. Episode four continues strong, but it is starting to feel a little too slow of a burn. I need Daredevil to mask up and fight some bad guys.
