One character starts to say, “of f*ck.” She is cut off and only gets the first two syllables out.
Stuff to be aware of: “What is grief, if not love preserving.”
Alcohol - There is a joke made about beer and anniversaries.
Grossiness - A woman breaks a glass in her hand and cuts her hand pretty badly. A deep open wound is seen and blood. A dog pees on a wall. Wanda has a bug that is controlled and walked on her face.
Religious - There is a joke about a pet bunny playing Jesus in the Christmas pageant. There is a joke about the devil being in the details.
Scary - There are some issues with Wanda’s facade world that causes people to repeat themselves and to act oddly. There is a scene at the end of episode two where a man comes up out of a sewer drain. He is wearing a beekeeper suit. In episode four Vision is briefly seen in the his dead state from Avengers Infinity War.
There is a stop motion commercial in episode six that has a little boy on an island that wastes away. He gets skinner and skinner until he becomes a skeleton. In this episode Vision moves to the edges of town and discover people frozen in place and the lighting is dramatic in a creepy way. There is also a brief scene where a character is seen with bullet holes and looks like a zombie with glazed over eyes.
Wanda goes in a creepy basement with vines covering the walls. There is little light and the basement turns into what looks like a witch’s lair. In the season finale a character asks Wanda to let her die. There are some scary witch zombies that tie Wanda up. They move in creepy ways. When Wanda fights Agatha in the final battle Wanda starts to wither at Agatha takes her powers.
Sexual - One lady is reading a magazine article about, “seduction techniques.” Wanda comes down the stairs in a dress that reveals her cleavage. When she realizes that Vision’s boss and his wife are present she tries to cover up. Wanda and Vision kiss. Wanda moves Vision and her beds together and the go under the covers insinuating sexual synanagons.
A woman in a commercial is seen in a bubble bath. She washes her legs, but no private areas are seen. One ladys shakes her bottom and mentions that she is a tiger. Another character then mentions that she has a high libedo. In episode six in the intro Agnes has something written across her butt in bedazzled gems. In episode eight Wanda and Vision kiss. One character is named Ralph Bhoner and people laugh about this.
Violence - Episode six is the first time we see much fighting. It is all fist fights knocking people out. In episode eight during a backstory scene several witches have their life drained from them. They die and wither up like mummies. Wanda also gets thrown around against brick walls. In another flashback you see Wanda’s parents die when a bomb hits their house. Her and her brother hide under a bed waiting to see if a missle blows up.
Agatha had a spell that looks like a rope around Wanda’s children’s neck. They can speak but it seems to be hurting them. In the season finale (episode 9) Wanda and Agatha duke it out with their magic. Two Visions fight each other in typical MCU fashion.
Other - A man briefly chokes on his dinner. Wanda goes through a sitcom like birth scene where she pushes and two babies are born, but nothing is seen.
Seeing It With Your Family
There is a small amount of cursing and a few sexual jokes, but this show seems a bit tame compared to some MCU outings such at Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. What families need to be aware of are the creepy parts that deal with witchcraft, witch trials, and dead zombie like people.
What I Thought
To be the first production after the Infinity Sage (Spider-Man: Far From Home being the last film) this show brought us back into the MCU in a beautifully tragic way. Having each episode represented by a different era of television was genius. The minor MCU characters that are brought back are great and well used. This and Loki are the best MCU shows we have so far, in my opinion.
