During World War II the Super Soldier Program finds it’s first experimental soldier in Steve Rogers, a kid that has multiple health issues, but the right stuff where it counts. A*s - 2 B*tch - 1 D*mn - 2 Hell - 10 Religious Exclamations - 2
Stuff to be aware of:
Scary - A man is strapped to a table in which it looks like he was experimented on.
Sexual - A man moons Captain America, but his bare buttocks is not seen. Two guys check a girl out by looking her up and down.
Violence - A man is shot and you see him fall to the ground. His blood is splattered on a man’s jacket. Multiple people get shot and killed in multiple scenes including one important character, an old lady, and Nazis. Several people are shot with a gun powered by the Tesseract and seem to disintegrate. There is no gore or blood when this happens. Steve throws a knife that lands in a man’s back and kills him. A man gets thrown out of a plane and gets hit by the propellor and blood goes everywhere.
There are multiple scenes with tanks blasting things and things getting blown up. An important main character falls from a train and is no longer seen the rest of the movie, he is presumed dead (But we know the truth, right?).
Other - There is a scene in which two characters share an alcoholic drink. Later Captain America is drinking and has a conversation with someone about how he cannot get drunk due to his super metabolism. There are multiple medical/science scenes in which people are given shots.
Overall: “I could do this all day.”
Seeing It With Your Family
Plenty of fighting, several curse words, and fantasy (superhero style) violence. This one is just as intense as the movies leading up to Avengers. There is a montague of Cap and his men fighting Hydra soldiers producing more humans vs humans fighting than Thor (humans vs ice giants) and the Iron Man (humans vs machines or humans in machines) movies. The Red Skull will likely be the scariest part of this movie for younger viewers. Also, (spoiler alert) this movie ends on a sad note.
What I Thought
This is exactly what a Captain America movie needed to be. WWI, the Howling Commandos, Arnim Zola, Captain Carter, Bucky, Dum Dum Dugan, Red Skull, and Tommy Lee Jones thrown into the mix. This movie was a great concoction of characters, story, and heroism to give us a super soldier serum sized movie!
