The Fabled Stables: Trouble with Tattle-Tails

Author: Jonathan Auxier

Page Count: 96

A boy named Auggie is the caretaker for all the magical animals and beasts in the Fabled Stables. In the second book Auggie (the Fabled Stables keeper) and Fen (the stick in the mud) are joined by Willa the wisp (from the first book) who helps them on their journey to bring in the newest animal to join the stables, the tattle tail. This series has some characters and places that are also in Auxier’s Peter Nimble series, but you do not have to read those stories to read these. They are just neat Easter Eggs.

Reading Audience:

This is a short, easy to read early chapter book. I would say the reading level is about 2nd - 4th grade. Each page has amazing art work and the chapters are short.

Stuff to be aware of:

Nothing really scary and nothing bad. It is very kid friendly.

Overall:

The girls and I Really enjoyed reading the second book in the series out loud together. I enjoyed this one even more than the first. I have read J. Auxier’s book Peter Nimble and His Fantastic Eyes and one of the characters from it is mentioned in the Fabled Stables books. I guess he is building his own world, which is neat. This one has some fun jokes/puns and a good lesson on tattle tales.
