Flamecraft
About the Game:
You are a Flamekeeper, skilled in the art of communicating with, organizing, and leading Artisan Dragons. Artisan Dragons are small dragons that each have special magical talents that are sought after by merchants. Your job, as Flamekeeper, is to find the best fit for each of your dragons by placing them in a store that will gain you the most resources and reputation. As you and your dragons work hard the town will grow and new business will move in. As your town grows you will find yourself moving dragons, enchanting shops, and finding combos to gather more resources and reputation.
Each player’s turn consists of moving their character marker to a different shop and either gather resources and placing an Artisan Dragon or you can fire up a dragon and enchant a shop to make it better.
Replay Value:
High! As you learn the various shops, dragons, and combinations the game’s strategy becomes deeper. All shops won’t be used every game so this will mix things up a bit. If you don’t like longer games, you may get bored with this one.
My Thoughts:
This game was rare in that the artwork is what pulled me in. I kickstarted this one and got all the extra speciality pieces. The art and pieces are all really neat and well designed. Once you have played the game a few times it gets fun trying to play combinations of shops and dragon placement to gather epic amounts of resources and/or reputation. I have yet to find a board game player that doesn’t enjoy this one. This is no one of my all time favorite board games.
