Game: Castles by the Sea Genre: Tile Placement, but 3D!

Time: 30 min - 45 min (If you understand the rules)
Difficulty: Not too hard, we watched a video and learned the game. Setting up the game board for the first time was a bit difficult to learn.
About the game:
Help keep your shorelings alive by building sand castles for them to live in. Unfortunately, whenever they feel safe a baby or puppy runs down the beach and ruins everything!
You start with a collection of cards in front of you that shows set ways you can build a castle out of little tan blocks. Each card has the blocks (regular, doors, archways, etc.) used to build it sitting on the card. Some cards don’t have blocks but instead have little people called Shorelings on them. Shorelings can be placed on certain parts of your castles. Each round every card you have built (without blocks of Shorelings on it) means it is in play and scores you points. However, beware of disasters! Sometimes things will happen that knock down and return your blocks and Shorelings to your cards.
After a set number of rounds (depending on how many players you have) the game ends and the player with the most points wins. Your points are kept up with by collecting sand dollars with numbers on them. You also each get a few random cards that can net you extra points if you build certain ways or play in a certain way.
Replay Value:
High, I can’t wait to play it again. However, if you aren’t into strategic tile placement games you may not like it.
My Thoughts:
This was a kickstarter game for me. Just watching videos about it got me excited. I ended up enjoying it even more than I thought I would. I love trying to build in ways that earn me the most points or allows me to add something later.
