Everdell
About the Game:
The animals beneath the shade of the Evertree are using each season to prepare for a long winter. On your turn, you must strategically place a worker, pay a card, or prepare for next season. What that looks like is on your turn you can place your cute worker animals on a spot beneath, or on, the Evertree to gather resources and accomplish tasks/event, play a card like a building or animal, or prepare for next season - which is essentially the three rounds the game is played in.
As your workers bring back resources you are able to construct buildings and structures in our town and recruit animals to work them. Each of these buildings and animals give you special abilities and/or points that are tallied up at the end of the game. The person with the highest amount of points (the most awesome and prepared city) wins.
Replay Value:
High, as long as you don’t mind it taking around an hour to play. Once everyone has learned the rules the game moves pretty fast and despite the easy to pick up rules the game has a lot of depth.
My Thoughts:
I played this one for the first time at a retreat I went on. It is beautifully illustrated and very cute, but don’t let that fool you. This game has some depth and you’ll need to be strategic in everything you do if you want to not only survive winter, but win. I really enjoyed it and can’t wait to play again. It has some similar game mechanics to Tiny Epic Dinosaurs and Flamecraft.
