Stuff to be aware of:
Grossness - A dragon’s head gets chopped off by the bifrost and slides into Asgard dousing Scourge is dragon blood muck. Meek lays eggs. Thor loses an eye and it looks like a bloody, bruised mess.
Scary - Thor starts out in a cage with a skeleton. There is a big monster named Surtur that is a fire demon. He is pretty intense and other smaller demons can be seen in the background. There is also a big dragon looking monster. Hela raises an army of dead/zombie Asgardians. There are several weird looking aliens in the movie. Hela has a huge black wolf that is intimidating looking.
Sexual - Scourge tries to impress and flirts with two females. Korg asks if Thor’s hammer “pulled him off” and says he must have had an intimate relationship with the hammer.
As usual, Thor is see shirtless. Hulk gets out of a hot tub and and you briefly see his butt. Bruce Banner must wear Tony Stark’s pants and he mentions that they are tight and then he tugs on his crotch. There is a warp hole called the “Devil’s Anus.”
There is a ship that the Grand Master uses for “orgies.” This word is said twice when another character repeats the phrase as a question.
Violence - Plenty of typical MCU fighting and violence. I’ll only mention things out of the ordinary or that are more graphic here. Thor chops off a fire demon’s head and straps it to his back. He carries it around for a little while.
Two of the Warriors Three are killed by multiple knives and one of them is impaled. A man is touched by a weapon the Game Master has and it melts the person down into sludge. Hela hits Thor in the eye which he then loses. It just kind of looks like a huge bloody bruise. A giant wolf bites Hulk and his teeth are seen going into Hulk’s flesh. Blood comes out in the water they are fighting in. Executioner gets stabbed in the chest.
Other - Thor drinks a very large mug of ale that refills magically. Valkyrie is seen drinking and is drunk in one scene. She drinks multiple times and says she won’t stop.
Overall:
Seeing It With Your Family
The third Thor movie has a few more sexual jokes than the last two and has a more silly tone than the last two. The zombie/skeleton warriors, the giant wolf, and Surtur may be a bit scary for younger viewers. When Thor loses his eye in the last part of the movie his face looks pretty scary and gross.
What I Thought
I enjoyed this one more the first time I watched it. Rewatching all the Infinity Saga movies now, this one feels a bit out of place in tone with the other MCU movies. As a huge fan of the Planet Hulk comic arch I enjoyed seeing some of that play out on screen. It is fun, but I wish there was a bit less goofiness and sexual innuendo. It is jarring to watch the first two Thor movies and then this one. I would say it isn’t as good as the first, but better than the second one.
