Rated PG-13

After surviving a car crash Kevin meets a mysterious entity known only as the Benefactor. The Benefactor educates him on how there are multiple realities, all taking place at the same time, but all very different. Kevin’s decisions take him on a trip to a dystopian future where he must fight for his life and to return to his wife, whom he has taken for granted.

This is an Angel Studios (The Chosen, Sound of Freedom) production of a retelling of the book of Job in a sifi setting.

Themes:

God, Job, marriage, love, children, family, alternate realities, alternate universes, flaws, giving in, the devil, control, fighting for what is right, every decision matters, religion, dictatorship, dystopian futures, hope, faith, bad things happening to everyone, and shifting.

Language:

The worse I caught was the word “crap” once and the phrase “piss him off” once.

Stuff to be aware of:

There are a few scenes that insinuate that some girls may be hookers by how they are dressed and a guy sits with his arms around them or with his hand on their legs. There is also a brief scene that looks like it may take place in a strip club. Only a girl’s foot with a heel on it is seen. There are also a few scenes with social drinking and a woman drinking wine at home.

There is a lot of fighting and gun fire throughout the movie. People get shot and also die, but nothing is very gruesome. One character does have blood on bandages or blood shows up through clothes/cloth.

Overall:

This movie feels like a 90s action thriller with a Biblical message. I enjoyed this movie, but due to the nature of the story it is not one I would likely watch over and over again. I am glad I watched it, but with so much sorrow it would be hard to watch again. The story itself does a great job paralleling the book of Job, but a little bit of the exposition in the middle of the film kind of slowed things down and felt a little bit bloated. There were times I was on the edge of my seat, but then also times where I was wanting something big to happen. Overall, if you are a Christian and enjoy a thrilled this would be a good watch for you.

I do hope these movie Angel Studios is putting in theaters make good money. I am happy to see a company making “big budget” movies without the language, sex, and immorality that so many movie have now.
