Episode: 6 Episodes (Around 32 - 35 minutes each)

Rated TV-PG

Tim Allen is back for season two as Santa Clause! After his retirement plans went off the rails in season one Santa is now wanting to train his son, Cal, to take over the role of the Big Man. However, the rule following elf, Betty, doesn’t think Cal is the right man for the job, but she has been forced to take a sabbatical leaving her pushover of a husband, Noel, in charge. Things really get turned on it’s head when a magic nutcracker housing a very bad Santa from the past goes missing!

Themes:

Santa Clause, Christmas, Elves, family business, passing the torch, yes man, krible krable, Santa history, parenting, new leadership, sabbaticals, living up to expectations, uncontrollable power, Christmas magic, relationships, responsibility, gnomes, leadership, siblings, war, revolution, forgiveness, second chances, finding similarities, expectations, and there’s snow business like snow business.

Language:

Language wise, there isn’t too much to worry about. There are 3 religious exclamations. The word purgatory and crap are both used once. Minor name calling such as idiot, weird, and scoundrel.

Stuff to be aware of:

Some gnomes wear creepy looking plastic gnome masks. One elf drinks syrup like drinking alcohol. One character mentions that he can’t have children, but doesn’t explain why. A female gnome sleeps on a man’s back. Santa Magnus is a bit intense, and angry. There is some hand to hand combat and magic fighting in the last episode, but nothing too intense.

Overall:

Season one’s story continues, but goes in enough of a different direction to keep things interesting. The original movie is still the best, but I enjoyed season two of this show as much as season one. The cast of characters continue to be fun and grow and this show continues to be a fun successor to the movies. Also, the creative uses of the seasonal legendaries (Easter Bunny, Sandman, and Cupid) makes me like them more.

Spoiler Alert Fun: Way to bring back Judy as a guest appearance!!!
