Loki - Season 2

Stream on Disney+

Runtime: Six 47-56 Minute Episodes

Rated TV-14

Loki, Mobius, Sylvie, and the rest of the TVA must deal with the after effects of killing He Who Remains. Not only are the consequences of his death disastrous for the time streams and time loom, but it also seems to be causing Loki to randomly time slip. Can Loki gain control of his ability to jump through time randomly quick enough to save his friends and the sacred time stream? Or will he fail like he does every time he has strived for at jet “glorious purpose?” Will Mobius ever get that jet ski?

Themes:

Time travel, time streams, alternative realities, the butterfly effect, variants, alternate timelines, gods (little g), prisoners, torture, death, loss, friendship, love, betrayal, extinction, He Who Remains, failsafes, technology, victims, norse mythology, teamwork, rogue technology, past affecting the future, future effecting the past, and mischief.

Language:

Here is what I caught over six episodes. D@mn once, a@s once, sh@t six times, and Hell once.

Stuff to be aware of:

When Loki time slips (transported through the time stream) he looks as if he is being pulled apart. There are scenes with drinking and whiskey is mentioned. There is a machine that puts people in a box and slowly shrinks until is kills them. People get evaporated into ash when the are pruned, but they are only sent to a different part of the time stream. I later episodes time lines melt down and people and the TVA seem to melt into stringy looking mush.

Overall:

So far Wanda Vision, Hawkeye, and this series are the best Disney+ has made. This one picks up right were they last season left off and everything is tied together so well. The writing is good, and Owen Wilson and Tom Hiddleston have great screen chemistry. This season was as good as the first, but I will say it might be a bit expository heavy for some. There is a lot of talking, explaining, and going back to the same event/time. You can easily get lost if you don’t listen and keep up with what is going on. Also, I was so excited to see Short Round from Indiana Jones and the Temple fo Doom all grown up!

I enjoyed it and there are some fun Thor movie references and one to Antman and Wasp Quantimania.
