Rated PG

Have courage and be kind. A live action remake of the Disney’s classic, Cinderella with a more indepth story.

Themes:

Family, death, loss, love, fairy tales, sorrow, kingdoms, stepmothers, animals, step children, forgiveness, pain, memory, grief, refined taste, travel, royalty, royal balls, arranged marriage, and glass slippers.

Language:

Worse you will hear is, “all men are fools.”

Stuff to be aware of:

Tragedy strikes as a mother gets sick and eventually passes away. Later the father passes away. This is Cinderella, but you get to meet and get attached to her parents before they pass away. There is bullying and adults being mean to other adults. There is a scene where Cinderella’s dress gets torn to pieces. There is a cat that unsuccessfully tries to eat Cinderella’s mice friends.

Overall:

Personally, this has been my favorite live action remake of Disney classic animation. It mainly follows along with the original story, but adds some new and well executed story beats. We get to know the characters a bit better through back story in which we see Cinderella’s history up to living with her wicked step mother and cruel (and clueless) stepsisters. This version of Cinderella takes on more heroic traits then her predecessor and even stands up for herself.
