Duck Tales - Seasons 1, 2 &, 3

Released on Disney+ on Apr 30, 2021

Runtime: Seventy five 30 Minute Episode

Rated TV-PG

Scrooge McDuck, his nephews, and many other characters from the original show and other Disney Afternoon characters from the 90s star in the reboot of the classic cartoon.

Themes:

Family, selfishness (It is Scrooge McDuck after all), adventure, folklore, myths, Greek gods, trust, betrayal, solving a mystery, rewriting history....see what I did there?

Language:

There is no cursing or bad language, however there is some name calling here and there. The bad guys usually refer to the good guys by mean names.

Stuff to be aware of:

Some episodes can be a little scary sometimes. The DuckTales clan take on monsters, Bigfoot, Greek gods, aliens, bad guys, witches, ghosts, killer plants, and other paranormal entities. One character that scared my girls (I mostly watched this by myself, but they did watch a few episodes) was Magica De Spell. She is a witch with green eyes. She is the main antagonist in the first season and becomes less scary after her defeat.
There is one episode that contains a gay couple. In Season 3, Episode 1: Challenge of the Senior Junior Woodchucks one of the “friend” character’s parents are introduced. She is raised by two fathers. One character cheers for her and says, “That’s my Sister from a couple misters.” The two men are seen in this scene and in a couple of other scenes in the background. They do not have in speaking lines, but wear shirts that say, “I’m with Dad” and has an arrow on it. They are never mentioned in any other episodes and this particular episode is a stand alone episode and doesn’t further the overall story of the show.
One last thing, Louie (the green shirt) tends to be mischievous and lies about things sometimes. This is a good talking point with kids about being honest.

Overall:

I really enjoyed watching this. There are a lot of Easter Eggs and characters from other 90s Disney Shows. Darkwing Duck is a regular occurring character, the Gummy Bears are mentioned, characters from Tale Spin show up, The Rescue Rangers make a brief appearance, and Goofy even pops by for a visit. The show is very well written and characters and plot points from past episodes will play into later episodes. The series finale is awesome and brings back old characters and ties up just about every loose end. They could have continued making more episodes, but it ends in a very satisfying way. The voice cast is stellar and the new theme song is great! I really enjoyed it, but I would avoid the first episode of season three if watching it with my kids. Woo-Hoo!
