Stuff to be aware of:
Grossness - When Jane Foster has the Aether in her it can be seen moving under he skin. Kind of a glow in her veins.
Scary - The Dark Elves are creepy looking and sometimes a mist swarms around them and makes them more powerful. There is a big rock character that get crumbled into rocks by Thor’s hammer. A Dark Elf is in statis in space and is awaken. At first you can’t see his face until an odd looking helmet opens. Later a Dark Elf is seen transforming into a beast. His skin becomes like molten rock/lava and smoke comes out of him. He transforms into a larger being and it looks like his helmet becomes part of him. When he touches people they burn.
Jane Foster gets sucked into a place that is ancient, dark, and ominous looking. She comes across the Aether, which is a floating liquid like substance. It goes towards her and her body absorbs it. The scene causes her to float in what looks like space and the Aether swarms around her. Jane later has what seems to be a vision with the Aether floating around. Her eyes go dark black for a second. Closer to the end of the movie, Jane’s eyes turn an odd blue black color. Toward the end of the movie the Dark Elves make Jane float and the Aether comes out of her eyes and mouth. When a Dark Elf absorbs the Aether his eyes turn a different color and half of his face gets burnt.
The Dark Elves wear masks that have black, lifeless eyes on them.
The Aether is a big part of the final big battle. The big ice monster from the first Thor movie makes an appearance and eats a Dark Elf.
Sexual - Thor is seen shirtless, showing off his ripped abs. One character refers to another one as “banana balls.” Dr. Selvig is seen on a tv news program running around completely naked. His private areas are blurred out in tv fashion. He is later seen in a shirt and his underwear.
Violence - Expect lots of fantasy violence, fighting, and explosions. This is Thor after all.
There are two big battle scenes at the beginning of the movie where multiple people are stabbed, shot, and killed. A Dark Elf is stabbed by a friend. The friend then shoves a molten looking rock into the stab wound. Later the Dark Elf takes the rock out and blood is seen. He then transforms into a huge beast.
The Dark Elves have weapons that create what looks like a small black hole that sucks everything into it, including Asgardians. This is a big freaky, but not gruesome. Thor’s mother fights a Dark Elf, but get captured. Very soon after she is stabbed. You do not see the stabbing, but she falls to the ground. She is then seen laying on the ground with a little blood dripping from her mouth.
Loki stabs Thor in the side and cuts his hand off. There is no blood seen. This is later to revealed to be an illusion by Loki.
The big monster gets stabbed through the chest and some blood drips out. Loki gets stabbed through the chest and as he dies his skin turns an odd color. The main villain is defeated by transporting parts of his body to other places. You see arms and legs get taken to other worlds. It is gross, but there is no blood seen.
Other - There is a brief scene in a tavern in which several characters are drinking. Darcy asks for wine in a restaurant.
Overall:
Seeing It With Your Family
This one had less cursing then most Marvel movies. My guess is that this is due to the director and writers. The Aether and Dark Elves are creepy and there is plenty of fantasy violence. Nothing in this movie, in my opinion, is worse than what you see in Avengers.
What I Thought
This Thor movie doesn’t get as much respect as the first one, but it it a lot better than Thor: Love and Thunder. I guess this one had to take place in London so they could easily explain why Iron Man, S.H.I.E.L.D., and others didn’t show up to try to help figure out the world convergence. This one isn’t my favorite MCU movie, but it did its job introducing another Infinity Stone and progressing Thor’s story and characters.
