Tall Girl 2

Released on Netflix on February 11, 2022

Runtime: 1 Hour and 37 Minutes

Rated TV-PG

Jodi Kreyman, the tallest girl in school, and her friends are back for one more round of dealing with high school problems like popularity, relationships, and finding oneself. This time we find Jodi dealing with her newfound popularity she gained after the conclusion of the first movie, as well as her new relationship with Jack. Her new popularity causes some rifts in her relationships. New friends, negative self talk, and participating in the school musical send her on a journey to discover truely who she is, what she wants, and what she needs.

Themes:

Different body types, being tall, bullying, friendship, jealousy, trying new things, fashion design, high school, relationships, foreign exchange students, break ups, weight loss, falsehoods of social media, panic attacks, apologies, conquering your fears, negative self talk, self doubt, boyfriends, forgiveness, and other topics that deal with the emotional rollercoaster that is high school.

Language:

There are also a few religious exclamations such as, “oh my god” and “for god’s sake.” There is one curse word. One character says “no way in hell.” There is the use of the words, “jezz” and name calling.

Stuff to be aware of:

There are lots of midriff clothing choices in the movie. One character makes a joke about how he knows fashion from watching Queer Eye. There are conversations about kissing and the word, “making out” is used once.

Overall:

This is a cute high school movie that is likely aimed at preteens. The message of accepting your looks is a great theme from the first one and the big message from this one is that we have to “turn down” the negative self talk that gets us down. It kind of reminds me of High School Musical, but without the singing. Same high school themes, but a little bit deeper and more real. It likely won’t be bringing home any big awards, but it seems like a good mom and daughter movie night watch.
