Stuff to be aware of:

If you have ever watched any Lego shows you won’t find anything worse than Ninjago or Lego Star Wars.

In episode 1 - There is a character that gets engulfed in black shadow and becomes a shadow monster. The monster is just kind of a shadow with glowing eyes and sharp teeth. There is a giant monster with a skull like face that has a cage in his chest (where he locks people up). The characters aren’t too scary since they are all made of Lego, but all children are different so check out a trailer or some photos of the show before turning your kiddos loose.

In episode 2 & 3 - The big monster with the cage in his chest returns with other “grimspawn.” A giant stuffed shark bites a character. There is a character named the nightmare King that kind of looks like a zombie (or a D&D lich). He rides on a huge winged horse. There is a shadowy creature that crawls on all fours on the ceiling and walls. It has wings, glowing eyes, and sharp teeth. It looks similar to many of the other creatures. The Nightmare King talks in episode four, which seems to make him a little less scary. He has a lizard looking eye on his chest and head.

In episode 4, 5, 6, and 7 - Grimspawn are shot by arrows and disappear in a cloud of dust. Some characters get sucked down into quicksand, but do not get hurt. Characters get stuck in their nightmares, but there isn’t anything scarier than what has come before. There is a male yeti that has makeup and glitter put on him and he likes it, this is mostly for humor. A character shot in the back with an arrow causes his body to get covered in black tar and turns him into a night terror.

In episode 8, 9, 10, and 11 - A glowing man chases some characters. This isn’t too weird until he starts running on all fours and clinging to the walls. Two characters get in a fight, but there is nothing overly violent or graphic. The shadow monsters with the glowing eyes can be seen in the background of several scenes. It is mentioned in episode nine that a character has “moms.”

I did not watch episodes 12 - 20 - If I get a chance I will go back and watch these.

Overall:

As with most Lego based shows, you’ll find lots of silly humor, slapstick, and puns. While this show likely won’t win any awards, it’s fun and family friendly. The story is simple, but different enough to keep kids (and Lego loving adults) entertained. It won’t take long before you’ll see that the story is basically one McGuffin or quest after another, after another. The concept of the show is a lot more exciting than the writing and story, but kids will likely enjoy it.
