Busting makes me feel good! I still have the toys from when I was a kid. I own a jump suit and proton pack. I have the Lego firehouse. Needless to say, I’m a Ghostbusters fan. Strap on your proton back, buckle up in the Ecto-1, and lets take a look at the movie that started a franchise: Ghostbusters!

Scariness - Even though this is a comedy there are some scary ghosts. The library ghost has big teeth and chases our scientific heroes and there are “terror dogs” in multiple scenes that chase people (and once scene in a fridge). The terror dogs look like large black hounds with horns. There is a zombie taxi driver briefly in one scene. There is a woman that is possessed by Zuul (There is no dana only ZUUL!). She breathes heavily and talks in a deep, guttural tone. There are also hands that come out of a chair and grab a woman. The other ghosts in the movie aren’t too scary, but some are gross and ugly looking. Yeah, I am looking at you Slimer. He’s an ugly little spud isn’t he?
Sexual Stuff - There is quite a big of inuendo and sexual jokes. There is a dream sequence in which a ghost overs over a man, unzips his pant (his underwear are seen), and then the camera shows his face with his eyes going crossed implying the dream ghost is performing oral sex. The Gatekeeper and the Key Master start kissing and close a door. It is implied that they have sex.
Here are the sexual quotes/references form the movie “do you want this body,” “take me now,” and “I want you inside me.” There are usually witty quips that go with these. After Dana mentions that nothing happened in the bedroom Venkman says, “what a crime.”
Other - Several character smoke throughout the movie and alcohol can be seen in a few scenes.
Overall: The flowers are still standing!
Do I like Ghostbusters? Is the atomic weight of cobalt 58.9? I LOVE THE BOYS IN GRAY! This was one of my favorite movies growing up. In my opinion, this and Christmas Vacation are the top two quoted movies of all time. This one is a classic and gives me all the right nostalgia feels.
