Delicious in Dungeon
This is an ongoing review. I will continue to update it as I watch through the entire first season. So far, I have watched twenty four episodes. New episodes come out every Thursday.
After hunger pains cause an adventuring party to get defeated by a dragon one of their members transports the party out of the dungeon and to safety. Unfortunately, when they get transported all of their loot, money, and gear gets left behind. The spellcaster that transported them out was also left to digest in the bowls of the dragons. In order to rescue their friend the party must travel back into the dungeon, except without gear and money to by food. They must learn to “live off the dungeon” as they retrace their steps to find their lost companion before she is digested. Apparently, dragons have a very long digestive cycle.

Name calling like moron.
The phrases “from the bowels of hell,” “is this a weird fantasy of yours,” “what the heck,” and “dang” all crop up. See what I did there? Food joke. Crap and heck are also used a few times.
Stuff to be aware of: (Some of this is spoilerish)
Grossness - One character pukes off screen. A dead body slides out of a man-eating plant. There is a joke about a guy dying and the rest of the party eating his corpse. Characters talk about going to the bathroom and go off screen. Nothing is seen, but the characters do talk about how the poop is used for fertilizer. There is a joke about capturing other parties and eating them. There is a party of dead adventures that the team drags to the side, multiple times. There is a zombie with blood on their face and body. There are multiple monsters and beasts that are cut, gutted, and cooked. A character takes bloody frog skin and wraps it around his hands. The frogs get skinned later. A drago gets stabbed in the eye and blood drops from it multiple times.
In episode eleven a healer puts a man’s bitten leg back on, yup there is blood. The blood bubbles during the healing spell. The characters dig through the copse of a dragon and we see various organs and blood. During this the character’s hands are covered in blood. A skull and other bones are found. In episode twelve characters sort bones and rebuild different animals and races. There is also a forbidden spell cast that uses blood to rebuild a body. A person is covered in blood and vomits blood. Only the blood hitting the floor and coughing sounds are seen and heard. In episode thirteen a dragons flesh and organs appear to have been melted off and the skeleton sits in a lot of blood. Small dragon like creatures are formed from the blood. When they are destroyed they explode into blood and it splatters everywhere.
Some characters get hay fever and gush liquids from their noses. In episode sixteen there is a woman with blood coming from her eyes. In episode seventeen there is a large beast that is part woman, part eagle, part dragon. There is a brief shot of a character with a hole in their head and bleeding. In episode 23 it is hinted at that a person may have eaten another person in a tragic story of survival.
Sexual - The show is rated MA for nudity and violence. There is a brief scene in the intro that shows a nude woman sitting with her knees pulled up to her. You can’t see any body parts, but her silhouette makes it obvious she is nude. The intro can be skipped. One creature is mentioned as possibly being a hermaphrodite. Someone mentions, “there is even a naked man dancing.” No naked man is seen. In episode seven there are sirens that are topless. Their nipples are covered by their hair and not seen. The bottom half of them is a fish tail.
In episode twelve there is a woman who is brought back to life. She is naked, but fully covered in blood. There is an indention for her nipple, but the blood is so thick it is almost like she is wearing a body suit. Also, in episode twelve two females bath/wash off together. Both are naked. Sides and parts of breasts are seen, but nipples are always covered. No butt cracks and frontal parts are seen. One female inspects the other for issues with a spell she cast on her, but this isn’t done in a sexual way. One female interlocks fingers with the other and there is a moment of shock. It is revealed that one is trying to give the other mana. This doesn’t appear to be sexual. The two appear to just be very good friends, like sisters. The fact that they are both bathing though, does not help the scene. During this scene female silhouettes and bodies are clearly seen, just not nipples and private areas. This is a pretty lengthy scene with lots of dialogue. In episode seventeen the group fights harpies which are birds like creatures that have breasts and kind of a colored area like nipples. There is also a creature resembling a woman that rips her shirt open, but her breasts are covered in feathers.
It episode fifteen there are male and female dryads. They are plants that look human-ish. They are not wearing clothes, but kind of appear like humans wearing body suits. The females have breasts, but not details. Kind of like a barbie doll. In episode nineteen there are some photos of fully nude women. They are painted in a Renaissance painting style and look like art you might see in a museum. There brief pictures of bug like creatures with breasts. In episode 23 there is a woman mentioned that seduces men, she is briefly seen and scantily. She is bearing cleavage, but no nipples are seen. In episode 26 there is a fountain of a little boy peeing.
Scariness - There are ghosts in episode five that have skeleton like faces. They later crop up in later episodes. There is a dragon. There are more ghosts in episode thirteen, but they are not as creepy. There are some creatures that are scary such as gargoyles, gryphons, and a woman who seems part woman, dragon, and chicken.
Violence - A party member halfway hangs out of a dragon’s mouth. It is implied that she is eaten, but you do not see it. There are several scenes with fights that include monsters losing parts and limbs. There is often blood, and there seems to be a bit more in alter episodes. In episode three a man is stabbed in the throat and his blood pools on the floor. Then a man gets stabbed and blood runs down the sword. Another man gets stabbed through the chest. The sword comes out with some blood, but the scene is very brief. Some Orcs attack an inn and kill several people. Some blood is seen. In episode seven a Kelpie is stabbed underwater and bleeds. A character gets shot in the head and blood splatters. There is a close up shot of her face later. Some giant frogs get parts sliced off and they are shot, blood squirts out. A guy is stepped on by a dragon and spits blood. A character gets his leg bitten off by a dragon and he bleeds at the stump. There is a significant amount of blood in this scene. In episode fourteen multiple people get stabbed and one gets stabbed in the neck and is a bit gruesome. In episode seventeen two people are dropped from a high place and die with a fair amount of blood and another one is smashed. There are multiple deaths with lots of blood. One character gets stabbed in multiple vital areas. A big dog like creature loses its head from a spell and you see it laying on the ground missing it’s head and bleeding. One character gets slashed across his face by cat claws. He bleeds a little. A gryphon is stabbed and killed.
In episode 23 there is a Dwarf that is killed and is found in a pool of his own blood. There are multiple dwarves seen dead in this way.
Other - Wine is in one scene, but no one drinks any. Later some characters drink something out of a bottle. There is a female minotaur that has udders and one character milks her. Late in the season the characters magically change races and one male character turns into an elf. The elf is male, but acts a bit effeminate. This is done for laughs.
Overall:
If you are a Dungeons and Dragons (or other table top RPGs) player you will likely enjoy the humor in this series and may even have experienced some of what you watch in your own tabletop adventures. I really enjoyed the humor and story, but this is not a show for children. It is aimed at adults with themes and things mentioned above. It won’t be for everyone, but if you enjoy cooking, dungeon crawling, and fantasy humor this may be one for you.
It is not designed for children, there is cursing, blood, and some sexual stuff. There has been some positive stir about the leader, Laios, of the group being neurodivergent. Laios is obsessed with monsters, has a vast knowledge of monsters, constantly consumed with the thoughts of what monsters taste like, he is socially awkward, has issues relating with others, and struggles with sympathy. Whether the writers made him to be neurodivergent or not he is a very wonderful character and you will easily fall in love with him.
