After we read Sarah, Plain and Tall we had to get the sequel. This one is a good first chapter book, but was a little longer than the first one.

Sarah, Jacob, Anna and Caleb all return for the sequal to Sarah, Plain and Tall. Sarah has adopted to life on the farm, but still misses her home in Maine. A terrible drought comes and Sarah gets the chance to take Anna and Caleb to visit her family in Maine.

Reading Audience:

This could easily be read by a child that is starting to read short chapter books. It has fifteen chapters and they are all very short.

Stuff to be aware of:

This book was made into a Hallmark family movie so there really isn’t anything bad in it. The main story revolves around a drought so the family farm goes through some rough times. Sarah and the children move away for part of the book. There is also a barn fire, but no one gets hurt. Nothing too sad.

Overall:

This was a fun, simple read. We plan to watch the movie with Glenn Close and Christophe Walken. If you love the first one or Little House on the Prairie you will like this one.
